The Little Blue Heron is a  species of special concern due to low populations numbers.

  Venice firefighters put out a fire started when a road grader hit a TECO gas line at East Laurel Avenue and Knight's Trail Road March 4 around 3:45 p.m. The equipment was part of a road improvement project taking place in the area. No one was injured.
